Sometimes enough is enough … why I cut back this craft show season

Recognizing when enough is enough often means saying no to something. Well .. that’s hard. I have never been great at saying no … for any reason. That translates into being overextended, tired, stressed and resentful. Know that it is a blessing first of all to recognize when you are overextended, and secondly to have the strength to then make clear-minded decisions. Your work will benefit, your family will benefit, and best of all, you will benefit! Breathe easy, my friend! <3… Read More Sometimes enough is enough … why I cut back this craft show season

Five things you don’t often think to bring to your craft shows {and a quote that speaks to me}

Holiday craft shows are upon us, and Draw That Pig recently survived our first one of the season this past weekend. I have been a vendor at the Galleria at Scranton Prep (my alma mater!) for the past four years. This two-day event is a decent size show, with over 70 vendors, who offer direct… Read More Five things you don’t often think to bring to your craft shows {and a quote that speaks to me}

Shop local, buy handmade {a review of Draw That Pig}

A train excursion on the historic Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad

Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton runs many train excursions along the Pocono Mountain seasonally. Especially delightful are the short trips in the fall to view the gorgeous foliage. Last weekend my kids, my boyfriend and I hopped aboard a vintage train and spent the afternoon enjoying the sites and each other’s company. It was an… Read More A train excursion on the historic Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad

Shop local, buy handmade {a review of Sharp Dressed Dog}

Have you been noticing over the last few years, more and more local artisans are selling their wares? I sure have. And, indeed, I am one of those artisans. Here is the bigger question — have you been buying from those local artisans over the last few years? Hmm … that is something to think about. There is no denying… Read More Shop local, buy handmade {a review of Sharp Dressed Dog}

A visit to Ritter’s {and a recipe for apple pancakes}

I love fall. (Did I mention that before?) Actually, I love how all the seasons make their beautiful debut and subtle exit over the course of the year here in Northeast Pennsylvania. I truly cannot imagine living in a place where these distinct seasons do not exist. One of my favorite things about fall is… Read More A visit to Ritter’s {and a recipe for apple pancakes}

The oh-so-versatile throw pillow {eight ideas for Halloween}

Ah, yes. The throw pillow. Small and decorative. Aesthetic yet functional, too. Throw pillows are usually placed on couches or armchairs, but they are also frequently used on beds, day beds and floors. Throw pillows serve a dual purpose. Their decorative nature allows them to tie in color accents within a room, often drawing on the colors in drapes, walls or area… Read More The oh-so-versatile throw pillow {eight ideas for Halloween}
