Let’s Talk Pillows … Specifically, Pillowcases! The Perfect Gift

My bestie and I drove to Philadelphia last week to see a concert (James Taylor and the Eagles – amazing!). Driving two-plus hours down and back up the Turnpike gave us plenty of time for girl talk. There are many topics of discussion which we have in common. We spent our childhood together. Our kids are now best friends. We are both single parents. We work similar jobs. So, not surprisingly, our sentiments during discussion overlap quite a bit.

Here’s an example. We were talking about when we finally get to lie down in bed at the end of a busy day.

Oh, it is soooo nice. I just lay there.

I bought a great pillow for myself, and I LOVE it!

I spread out like a starfish. It feels sooo amazing! It’s the best feeling in the world.

It’s so soft and cozy I never want to get up. It’s like a dream.

This is not sex, people. It’s just a very exhausted single momma collapsing at the end of a typical day. LOL Near orgasmic, nevertheless. Do any of you share this experience?

So, here’s what I figure. I can’t be the only one out there who has such a strong affinity for my bed and pillows! Am I right?

Why not make the experience even more enjoyable with custom pillowcases on our pillows? Brilliant! (I know … ) 🙂

Pillowcases are awesome!

Just think about it for a minute.

They can be created to suit your mood … I am partial to pretty feminine ones (like the two photos above).

Or, you can gather a few in festive prints to swap out with the holidays for fun! This is a great way to add something special to your child’s bedroom each holiday. Or to spice up a guest room for the holidays. Or to send in a care package to brighten up your college student’s dorm room.

Fleece pillowcases are extra cozy!

Super fun!

Pillowcases are so easy to personalize for the recipient.

Maybe a boy would like cozy fleece in a Ninja Turtle print.

Grandma might enjoy festive cotton prints for the holidays.

Young children would delight in Santa pillowcases in anticipation of Christmas.

A college aged young lady might appreciate a two-sided pillowcase, silky satin on one side and cozy Minky on the other, to suit her ever-changing moods and needs.

For many gifting occasions now I have made a variety of pillowcases for friends and family. My pillowcases are also consistent sellers in my Etsy shop and at craft shows. Holiday-themed ones go over especially well. I think pillowcases are a great gift because they are colorful and unique, and they are a welcome alternative to the dilemma of buying for that person “who has everything!”

I have a few cotton prints available at Draw That Pig now, and I am taking custom orders for the upcoming holiday season. (It’s never too early, folks!)

For inspiration, and to show you just how unique handmade pillowcases can be, I’ve included a list of some of my favorite pillowcase tutorials below.

And lastly these two articles demonstrate the benefits of a silk or satin pillowcase for us “women of a certain age.” 😉 It is supposed to be beneficial for our hair and delicate facial skin.

So, what do you think?

Are you as obsessed with pillowcases as I am?

If you are stumped trying to come up with a unique idea for Back-to-School, Dorm Decor, or Holiday Gift-Giving, surprise the recipient with a unique, handmade pillowcase! The possibilities are as endless as their ages and personalities!
