Summer is HERE!
I’m not gonna lie.
Absolutely one of THE BEST things about working in a school is having summers off!
I don’t often sleep in, but is IS nice not to be a slave to my alarm most mornings. Summer is my time for a to-do list that is a mile long. You know, I try to accomplish all the big (and even little) chores that didn’t get done during the school year. Everything from purging closets and shampooing carpets, to cramming in all the appointments that I put off all year.
Oh, don’t worry. I do fun stuff too — like pick strawberries and make jam, work in my humble garden, hit the beach with my family, and make memories with my kids. And, of course, there is my sewing. Catching up on orders, stockpiling my Etsy shop (this one has been tough the last few summers), and sewing a bit for myself.
And, well folks, before you know it, I’ve crossed a few thing off my list, and it’s the end August. Time to head back to school.
Well, summer is NOW! 
And our family’s beach vacation is just two short weeks away! For the past few beach seasons, I’ve been using my fabric duffel bag as a beach bag. Not a terrible choice, but I didn’t like to get it loaded with sand, and then have to wash it over and over again. I’m certainly in need of a new Beach Bag. I found this tutorial online by Something Turquoise. Simple and perfect! It’s going to be my “Donna” project this week. 
I hit the fabric store yesterday, and I couldn’t resist just one fabric! I brought home several cuts of UV-protected fabric, and I can’t wait to add these Bags to my Etsy shop! I already sewed up two Beach Bags using beachy fabric I had in my stash — to test out the tute. They were so quick and easy to sew up! I plan to give one to Rhianna next week for her birthday. I’m going to fill it with some neat items that she will definitely need for a day at the beach.
