A Peek Into What I’ve Been Creating and Loving This Past Week

WELCOME to my weekly post where I share about what I’m creating right now and what I’m loving, and give you a peek into what we’ve been up to this past week.

*** What I’m creating …..

One of my business goals for 2018 is to have more items in stock for both Draw That Pig and StoLat A Wedding Shop, my two Etsy shops. I am ALWAYS playing catch-up on my sewing orders, and I end up running a “made-to-order only” business. This is not my ideal. But, unfortunately, it remains a reality for me. Gotta buckle down on this goal!

Anyway … I squeezed in some time this week to finish up some Pajama Eaters and a Tooth Fairy Pillow that had been patiently awaiting my attention.

These cuties are all set for snuggles and stashing PJ’s!

I do have a few Pajama Eaters in my shop that are “Ready to Ship” (you can purchase here or check out the Etsy Shop link at the top of this page). And I am always taking orders! 🙂 These cuddly monster friends are super for snuggling in bed, on long car rides, while waiting for appointments. They are just SO soft!

I finished up this Tooth Fairy Pillow, too, and it is all ready for local delivery.

This Tooth Fairy Pillow is just so perfectly girl-y!

Tooth Fairy Pillows were one of the very first items in my shop when I opened up over five years ago! When I was a little girl, I had a Tooth Fairy Pillow similar to this one that my grandmother had given me. I thought it was so sweet. So magical. And ever so important! I create my Tooth Fairy Pillows for Draw That Pig modeled after that one which was so special to me long ago.

*** What I’m loving …..

I’m loving that I have been able to spend a bunch of quality time with my littles this past week.

My kids have been asking if we could join the YMCA for a few months now. We had a family membership years ago, and we all used to love going to Open Swim. I was able to get a great discount on a family membership, and I finally joined our local Y this month. YAY! And even better, we finally made it to Open Swim on Thursday evening. We were the only ones in the Open Swim area, and it was really neat to have the pool to ourselves! This was great family bonding time, and we even went for an ice cream cone treat afterwards. 😉

Also, on Monday evening, James and I had a nice time taking a walk in our small town to visit the Veterans’ Memorial near our Borough Building. We went with his Cub Scout pack as part of a badge requirement. We looked for names we might recognize on the Memorial Wall, and got a close-up look of the tanks out front. I felt that was a special bonding experience with him, too. <3

I just love his smile!

*** What is inspiring me …..

I’m currently reading You’ll Get Through This: Hope and Help for Your Turbulent Times by Max Lucado. Another of my goals for 2018, in the self-care category, is to read more books. I do enjoy reading. But I certainly need to be more intentional about making time to read. When I plop into bed at night, my go-to has been scrolling and reading on my cell phone. But, I figure reading a BOOK is much better toward my “read more BOOKS” goal (am I right?), and I’m sure it is more helpful in aiming toward a restful sleep. Yep, I’m doing it. I wouldn’t say that I’m a voracious reader at this point. But I am taking baby steps. I love it!

What I’m reading right now.

The author uses the biblical story of Joseph — his abandonment, enslavement, mistreatment and more — to demonstrate how God uses intended evil for ultimate good. He makes parallels throughout the book to modern, real-life “Joseph-like” scenarios as a way to encourage us all to keep the faith and never give up because of our circumstances in life.

I am not quite sure how I feel yet about this book. I find myself wanting to pick it up at bedtime, so that is a good thing. Yet I find I am experiencing some feelings of guilt and bitterness as I read through the book. Hmmmm … Well, it IS stirring up feelings in me. I’ll let you know what I think when I finish it.

How was YOUR week? I hope you made some memories, made some progress toward your goals, and took some time to care for yourself, too! I would love to hear what is going on in your life. Leave me a comment below. <3
